## **Overview**

One of the enforcement branches of the [AIC](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/institutions/atlan-information-control-aic), along with [Border Patrol](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/borders-and-travel/gate-patrol). Collections is a bureau dedicated to the tracking and recovery of illegal technology, and the apprehension of those who exploit it.

Collections conducts long-term investigations, responds to reports from local governments and [local authorities](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/law-and-order/local-authority) across GATA's many [districts](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/politics/districts), and has personnel stationed at every [Gate](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/borders-and-travel/gates) and [Spaceport](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/borders-and-travel/spaceports).

## Collectors

Collections field agents are called Collectors, specially trained investigators and operators who typically work undercover, and are deployed all around the world, from [Greater Atla](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/politics/greater-atla) and its partner states, to [Gray Zones](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/politics/gray-zones) and the [Free Territories](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/free-territories).

Collectors work hand in hand with AIC working groups and local authorities to conduct their investigations into breaches of [NDA](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/law-and-order/new-dawn-accords) [regulations](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/science-and-tech/tech-regulation) and to secure dangerous technologies. Often these investigations implicate gangs, [criminal syndicates](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/criminal-element/syndicates), and sometimes even expose corruption within enterprise and institutions.

## Collections at District Gates

Every [Gate](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/gata/borders-and-travel/gates) in GATA has a Collections Desk, an office available to members of the public who wish to report or surrender [illegal technology](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/science-and-tech/tech-regulation) or other [Old World](https://wiki.codauniverse.com/coda-universe/world/history/the-old-world) contraband. These Collections Desks also serve as a home base for Collectors who need access to AIC resources and support over the course of their active investigations.
