Bio
Morning was born into a prominent Lakota family within the Church of the Sky, a powerful religious organization formed during the Dark Decade. Their father was a revered Speaker, and their mother, a fierce matriarch who had glimpses of the wisdom of Creator. The legacy of their parents would be a birthright and a burden they nor their siblings could escape.
From a young age, the winkte Morning took eagerly to the Church's activities, displaying a pure faith, and demonstrating an astute grasp of both traditional Lakota teachings and the blended doctrines of the Church of the Sky. Their early talents garnered them admirers within the congregation, but also hopes and expectations. Morning shone to meet them.
This all changed at age 12 after secretly witnessed their father making a corrupt deal to enrich their family at the expense of the Church and the People. That agreement set in motion the rapid expansion of his family's fortune and influence, but Morning didn't notice.
The revelation that their father—a revered spiritual leader—was so quick to lust for power shook Morning. Disillusionment shattered their faith, substituting it with a conviction that greed was humanity's true face. This led to a gradual withdrawal from active participation in the Church’s communal life, drawing the concerned gaze of family and elders.
The black sheep and eldest of 8 siblings, all of whom worked in some capacity within the Church, Morning always had a special bond with their youngest sister, who joined in Morning’s mischief as youth. Their relationship was a simple joy. However, after her marriage to a prominent Church figure with a possessive temperament, their relationship strained. This period of isolation exacerbated their growing antipathy.
All they could do was watch. As their faith in the Church's teachings waned, Morning's belief in human fallibility grew. So too did their facility with manipulation. They came to see the Church not as a spiritual sanctuary, but as a nexus for currents of power and influence. In time disaffection transformed into a morbid desire to know the whole sordid story. This shift in perspective brought their attentions back to the Church.
Morning petitioned to tour across the Sovereign capitols and districts representing the Church of the Sky. With enthusiasm their mission was blessed. While accustomed to the comforts of their home, Morning came to love the road; there was so much to know, so many people, so many ways. On their tour they cultivated a network of loyal informants—true believers—across the Free Territories, collecting secrets and compromising material to use as leverage. After several years abroad they returned, having seen further than any other in the Church.

I’m not here to lead with faith or inspire with doctrine. My world is built on secrets and leverage. The Church may see me as their future, but I see myself as the master of their greed.
