Atla

A view of Atla's floating skyline.

Overview

Atla, the Greater Atlan Territorial Alliance's (GATA's) capitol, as well as its first and most influential district. Technically, Atla remains a state unto itself, but following its ratification of the New Dawn Accords (NDA) in 2062, its citizens voted by overwhelming majority to delegate the young nation's sovereignty to The Systemβ€”a gesture signaling to other nations Atla's absolute commitment to the NDA's vision.

Originally founded from a floating colony of naval ships during the Dark Decade, Atla has since transformed into a vast sea-set metropolis reaching above and below the waves roughly 1,600 km West of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Its strategic location in the Atlantic Ocean and its pivotal role in the restoration of global welfare and diplomacy in the later years of the Dark Decade and throughout the Reconstruction has made it it a focal point of global politics, power and culture.

Today, Atla is a thriving hub of enterprise and home to a number of GATA's most vital institutions, including the First Quorum, the AIC's High Court, the Atlan High Academy, and the highly secure ALTAR embedded far below in the ocean floor.

From its endless expanse of submersible seascrapers, underwater plazas, and stunning airborne spaceport, to its static levies, ring of watchful sentinels, and the flocks of static vehicles weaving across its meticulously ordered skies, Atla is the crown jewel of GATA and a stunning sight to behold.

Static Levies

Encircling Atla is an array of tens of thousands of static levies; long tubular field generators that use gravity and precise real-time wave dynamics calculations to manipulate and repel the ocean's mighty waves. The levies also function as Atla's field wall, asserting the district's border.

Over the years, Atla's growing mastery of its oceanic setting is an overt assertion that it can and will fulfill its mandate to tame the Earth system.
