Sentinels

Static sentinels defending the district field walls from incursions.

Overview

Sentinels are GATA's mobile, autonomous, static-powered defensive platforms. They are typically seen arrayed around the field wall perimeter of districts, particularly around the more remote districts where wallrunner and Sovereign militia activity is more prevalent. They're large airborne pillar-like structures that use statics to move through the Earth's gravitational field.

Sentinels function as passive defenses for districts and support Gate Patrol operations. These airborne platforms collect critical sensor information, and house air-to-ground and air-to-air defensive weapon systems and other deterrents.

In addition to its weapon systems and sensor arrays, a significant proportion of a Sentinel's mass is made up of its onboard cogs, allowing each sentinel to safely operate independently in compliance with GATA's strict regulations restricting the use of technology and data.

When incursions, threats, or other anomalies are detected beyond a district's perimeter, sentinels intelligently redistribute themselves along the border. They were designed as an autonomous solution to reduce reliance on Guardians, who are increasingly in demand across the globe in active crisis and conflict zones.

Capabilities

There are a variety of different Sentinel models in the field with varying configurations that determine their capabilities.
